Awesome photos. You may want to check your photo of Mt. Nebo though. Bald Mtn. is more to the bottom of the photo. The peak on the left of the photo is North Peak at 11,174 ft. and Mt. Nebo is 11,928 at the northernmost of the 3 highest summits in the photo.

Great website. Learned much. I was online to find the route to Twin Peaks from Broads Fork, which here I did. I really dug the site.

Hiked this peak about 7 times, and for the conservation of gas, I'm not gonna hike it again. Me and my family live on 5600 west and 4700 south, and gas is really expensive so we decided to only hike big and important peaks, such as Mount Olympus, Grandeur peak. Basically any peak above 6,000 ft.
My record for this hike was 15 minutes, and dam, you climbed it in 5 minutes, thats quite fast, basically running up the hill.

I have been very blessed by your photography. Can an arrangement be made to use one of your light rays images on our nonprofit calling card (CRUSADE FOR AMERICA)?

Just wondering...is there some kind of an access road up to the facility (from the back side or something), or how did they get all of the building materials up there?

Maryann Ruprecht | Littleton | 2008-06-07 | Galen Rowell |
I only knew Galen Rowell through his work and a video tape on photography, but feel I knew who he was as a person and an interpreter of nature and art. He and Barbara went too soon. We need life-affirming,dreams come true lives like they lived together. While cleaning out some stuff, I came across a National Geographic from April 1989. In it I found a treasure of an article and photographs by Galen. It's titled "The John Muir Trail. Along the High,Wild Sierra. I had climbed Mt. Whitney, there in the Sierra with my Mother and Dad and big brother,Tom back in 1984. It was 'an adventure of a lifetime'. My Dad and brother, Tom are gone now. We will never do that again, although, at the time of the climb, I thought we'd do other mountains together. I'll never forget that trip, it lives inside me still. Galen's article helped me go back again to the John Muir Trail,to the time we spent together there and, to the young woman with so many dreams of adventures to share with those I love. Thanks for your site and for giving me an opportunity to share my memories here. I don't know if this qualifies to be "comments", but I just felt free to express how Galen affected one life.

Hi,
I am going to be in Utah for a few days picking up some horses and would like to take some time to do some photography. Would you know any accessible places (not more than and hour or so off the road) to take some good landscape pics? Also wildflowers, animals, etc. Thanks

I hike to the facility in the canyon all the time. An avalanche never took out the facility itself but the tram that brings people up there.

I have the privilege of living at the mouth of the canyon and in the gorgeous corner of Alpine. That canyon is my life. I can't get enough time up there and everytime i see something new and beautiful.I don't know if I can ever leave it

What a great site, thanks for sharing. My wife and I were at the base of the falls two weeks ago. It was raining pretty good and we had our 18 month old granddaughter with us so we didn't hike the trail. Next time we will.

Great site. I have a pond with waterfall, frogs come and breed. Hysterical! I've got recordings I made while they were mating..sounded like chickens or ducks!! Sometimes like dog barking. Friends got a kick out of it. I play it outside and they all join in. It's GREAT!!

I believe that your photos are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I can't believe that Bush and his bunch want to explore for oil and gas in the Red Rocks National Park . Nothing is sacred to this bunch.

Based on this year's snowfall, is any of Naturalist Basin accessible in late June? I don't mind hiking and camping on snow as long as I can find the trail! If not, can anyone suggest a good alternative?
