The Maracanã is the largest stadium on this side of the planet. It can
fit almost 190,000 fans.
When it's a packed house, the concrete shakes.
This was one of the most emotional games I've ever attended, the fans acted
like their lives depended on it.
Flamengo made the first goal, and everyone on the Vasco side gasped like they
just watched their mother die,
and then became solemn and quiet. Soon after, the drummers broke the silence
chanting that they won't be intimidated.
Just before the break, Vasco scored their first goal, and the crowd erupted
into mayhem,
jumping up and down and hugging each other like they had won the lottery.
